Breckenridge, Colorado Town Information
Founded in 1859 along the banks of the Blue River, the "soft
beautiful valley" of the Ute Indians, was renamed for then
Vice President John Breckenridge. Today, the citizens of Breckenridge
strive to preserve that historical legacy while providing a new
haven for today's "powder hounds" and snowboard enthusiasts;
and home to many "firsts" in the ski industry.
Breckenridge was the first ski resort in the world to install
a high speed detachable quad chairlift at Peak 9 in the early
1980's and most recently, the nation's first double-loading six-passenger
high-speed lift - The Quicksilver Super6. Now with over 2,000
acres of skiable terrain spread over four mountains; from the
bowls of Peak 7, the Chutes of Peak 9, to the tree skiing of Peak
10; Breckenridge has something for everyone.
The town offers some of the best dining in the west and activity
options for everyone in your vacation party.
